Mark Chapter 4

Then he added, “Pay close attention to what you hear. The closer you listen, the more understanding you will be given —and you will receive even more. To those who listen to my teaching, more understanding will be given. But for those who are not listening, even what little understanding they have will be taken away from them.”

2 Chronicles 7:14
What does this Bible verse have to do with Dr. Who? You’ll find out as you listen to Pastor Patrick Steele talk about the context of this popular verse.
We pluck [verses] out of context and expect them to work like magic tricks, and unless we understand the context, we should not expect that it’s gonna work like magic on us.
I Can Do All Things
The context of this scripture [is] a context of basically provisional suffering, provisional struggling. Paul’s talking specifically about provision. He’s talking about his needs being met, and he says there were times in his life when he was in great want, and there’s times in his life when he was in great plenty, and the equalizer in that situation is the strength and the grace of the Lord.
The Bible is a historical document given to us by God to tell us who God is, how He interacts with human beings, and from Genesis to Revelation, God has given us His unadulterated message … so that we might know Him, and live for Him, and understand our purpose, our reason, our interaction with Him, who He is, who we are, our identity, when He’s coming back, and how we’re going to spend our eternity.
